The definition of “road cycling” now includes gravel and off-road cycling in addition to regular roads. At the same time, bikes are evolving to meet the needs of smaller riders. Meeting these two different requirements was the driving force behind the Zipp 303 Firecrest 650B wheels. The smaller rim size provides the necessary space in the frame and fork for wider tires from 28 mm, which ensure greater comfort, control and better cornering. Thanks to the larger tire volume between the rim and the ground, the overall diameter including the tire is similar to a standard 700c wheel and road tire combination. Back on the road, 650b is a more suitable wheel for smaller athletes riding smaller frames. For too long, many smaller cyclists have trained and raced on standard 700c bikes. As a result, they lost the benefits of a properly mounted wheel, such as better handling and elimination of overlap between the front wheel and the toe. At the heart of the 303 650b Firecrest Tubeless is a versatile and durable hub, the ZR1 DB developed in Germany.
