WARNING
For installation, adjustment and replacement information of the products which are not found in user's manual, consult the place of purchase or a distributor. A dealer's manual for professional and experienced bicycle mechanics is available on our website (https://si.shimano.com).
For safety, be sure to read this "user's manual" thoroughly before use, follow it for correct use, and save it so that you can refer to it at any time.
The following instructions should always be followed in order to prevent personal injury, physical damage to equipment and the surroundings. The instructions are classified according to the degree of danger or damage which may occur if the product is used incorrectly.
DANGER – Failure to follow the instructions will result in death or serious injury.
WARNING – Failure to follow the instructions could result in death or serious injury.
CAUTION – Failure to follow the instructions could result in personal injury, or physical damage to equipment and surroundings.
WARNING
- Because each bicycle may handle differently depending on the model, learn the proper braking technique (including pressure on the brake lever and bicycle control characteristics) and operation of your bicycle. Improper use of the bicycle's brake system may result in a loss of control, which could lead to a serious -- injury due to a fall or collision.
- Do not disassemble or modify the product. It may cause the product to not operate correctly, and you may fall unexpectedly and be seriously injured.
- Before riding the bicycle, check that the wheels are securely fastened. You may fall or collide and be seriously injured.
CAUTION
- Shift the shift lever by only one gear at a time (or one or two gears in the case of the 11-speed hub). Reduce pressure on the pedals while shifting. If you attempt to apply force to the shift lever or perform multiple shifts while strongly rotating the pedals, your feet may slip off the pedals, the bicycle may topple over, and serious injury may result. Using the shift lever to perform multiple shifts may also cause the outer casing to slip out of the shift lever. This does not affect the functions of the shift lever, because the outer casing will return to its original position after shifting.
- Do not continue to use the brakes constantly when riding down long slopes. With coaster brakes or roller brakes, this will cause the internal parts of the brakes to become very hot and will reduce braking performance, as well as reducing the volume of brake grease in the brakes, resulting in noise or problems such as abnormally sudden braking. With hydraulic disc brakes, this may cause a sudden increase in the brake lever stroke, causing the brakes to stop working and leading to serious injury.
- Perform a warm-up procedure and check the braking force of the brake.
- After finishing riding the bicycle, do not touch the areas around the brake for at least 30 minutes. The area around the brake may be hot if the brake is used frequently.
