Do you need reliable tracks that have a long lifespan, excellent "driving" properties and hold well on frozen snow and in spring snowdrifts ? That's exactly what the Summit Skin SMU Mixmohair risers are. With a 50:50 slip and climb ratio, they are ideal for fast hill climbs. Then you can put all your energy into a great race. A comfortable climb will be supported by the impregnation of the fibers, which prevents snow from sticking to the belts, and the membrane, which prevents moisture from entering the adhesive, ensuring that the belts hold firmly even in changing conditions throughout the season.The belts are designed for frequent use. The combination of high-quality mohair and nylon (65% mohair and 35% nylon) ensures the optimal ratio between excellent glide, climbing ability and long service life.
In order for the belt to hold reliably on the skid plate, both the skid plate and the adhesive layer must be dry. If moisture from the snow gets on the glue, it stops working, peels off, freezes and doesn't hold. For this reason, these belts use the technology of applying a PU membrane between the layer with the braided hair and the layer with the applied glue, making the belts 100% waterproof. You can enjoy your ski tour without worries, because the glue holds firmly, does not freeze and works great even in spring firns on wet snow.
With frequent use or after several seasons, the impregnation effect may decrease. In this case, you can easily restore it with impregnation spray or impregnation wax. The wax is small and convenient to have on a hike in a backpack, especially for a several-day transition.
For the easiest uphill climb, it is important to have as much of the skid plate covered by the belt as possible. Therefore, it is important to choose the right width and length of the belts. That's why the straps come in a width of 120 mm and lengths from 156 to 183 cm in 6 cm increments, and you simply cut the straps 2.5 mm from the side to exactly fit the shape of your skis.
