CAMP Matik locking agent
Matik is a modern semi-automatic safety device with an "Anti-panic" system and a dynamic cam. Matik is used for sport climbing and works with dynamic single ropes with diameters of 8.6 - 10.2 mm. The belay device has solid sides, the rope is attached in the same way as a classic bucket. The dynamic rotary cam moves depending on the load. If the load increases, the cam tightens the rope, preventing it from slipping. When a fall is caught, the cam retracts, but allows the rope to dynamically slip - meaning the rope does not immediately get stuck in place, but allows approximately 30 cm of rope to pass through gradually retracting. This significantly saves rope during multiple falls to the same spot and at the same time reduces the impact force of the climber's fall. The "anti-panic" system on the Matik belay device is used for safe lowering of the climber or rappelling down a single rope. The entire system is controlled by a lever on the left side of the fuse. The lever acts on a rotating cam that regulates the rope slippage during lowering. The anti-panic system is then the moment when the force acting on the cam is too great - a rapid jerk of the rope, a fall, etc. - at this moment the lever switches and stops acting on the cam. The cam tightens and strangles the rope. Anti-panic can then be reactivated by moving the lever to the upper position and back. Feeding the rope is made easier by a protrusion for the right index finger on the movable part of the cam near the belay eye. Just use your index finger to open the cam and quickly feed a longer piece of gathered rope. If you accidentally fall into a cam that is loose in this way, the belayer has no chance to hold the cam loose with one finger; the cam immediately tightens when the rope is tensioned, preventing it from slipping. The aluminum thermoformed body and internal critical stainless steel parts create the most natural path for the rope, thus also significantly saving it.
