Belay devices, rope pulleys and ascenders 🧗

Belay aids are pieces of climbing material through which the rope passes. The friction created by the belay helps the belayer control the rope while belaying the climber. They help to control the descent as well. It is an essential piece of safety equipment and all belay devices must be used correctly whether you are climbing indoors or outdoors and rappelling. Securing devices can be divided into manual or assisted devices. Manual devices contain no moving parts and are generally much cheaper, lighter, and easier to use, while assisted devices use a mechanism to bite the rope when a load is applied. They are more expensive but are a great investment for sport climbing and indoor use where falls may occur more often and the rope may be under more stress.
