Castelli Squadra Stretch Jacket
This is a modern take on the windproof jacket, a jacket you keep in your pocket in reserve for a long descent or put on for the first hour of riding until the temperature rises. This jacket used to be a simple affair - nylon fabric - but due to the lack of stretch, the cut had to be made a bit looser to fit all body shapes, both on and off the bike.At Castelli, they rethought how such a jacket should be made. They added panels on the sides and sleeves that are very stretchy, made of a durable knit fabric. This allowed them to give the jacket a modern, body-hugging fit and achieve an aerodynamic advantage at all times. And in fact, thanks to this, it keeps out more heat than a jacket that flaps in the wind. They also maintained a very compact design so it takes up minimal space in your jersey pocket. The stretch panels are treated to repel water, which helps in light mist, but don't take it as a rain jacket.
