Braided wheel ZIPP 303 Firecrest Carbon Tubeless, for disc brake, Center Locking 700C rear, 24-wire, SRAM walnut 10/11 speed, 12x142mm Standard Graphic A1
They're faster, 300 grams lighter, and more capable on multiple surfaces - whether it's on the road in all its forms or completely off the road. The new 303 Firecrest wheels have been redesigned to meet the requirements of modern road bikes and still have a deep-rooted desire for Zipp to master the Spring Classics.
These are the first Zipp wheels equipped with TSE Total (Total System Efficiency) technology - system-wide efficiency.
The precise composition of the rim material layers results in better all-round efficiency, which allows higher speeds to be achieved thanks to lower:
- Air / wind resistance
- rolling resistance
- Weights
- I'm vibrating
The new 303 Firecrest Tubeless disc brake wheels have been designed using direct "real world" measurements (compared to wind tunnel or computer simulation measurements). These measurements also included the new Zipp RollingRoad test protocol - a carpet simulating the journey. And the results were really spectacular.
The new rim is more bulbous compared to its predecessor, with an outer width of 30mm, an inner width of 25mm, and a rim height of 40mm. The rim profile provides lower air resistance and an improved transition between the tire and the rim, which promotes better aerodynamic efficiency on the road.
The wider rim, in turn, allows for a smaller tire deflection and thus reduces rolling resistance. The combination of a wider rim, a larger tire volume and less tire air pressure help reduce rider fatigue by better smoothing out unevenness when driving on broken roads and roads - the rim tire absorbs shocks, not the rider.
Also new are the cartridges - universal and durable ZR1 DB, which were developed in Germany. The rear hub freewheel mechanism is equipped with 66 points of engagement for a more responsive response.
