WARNING
For information on installing, adjusting, and replacing products that are not found in the user's manual, please consult the place of purchase or a distributor. A dealer's manual for professional and experienced bicycle mechanics is available on our website (https://si.shimano.com).
For safety, be sure to read this "user's manual" thoroughly before use, follow it for correct use, and save it so that you can refer to it at any time.
The following instructions should always be followed in order to prevent personal injury, physical damage to equipment and the surrounding area. The instructions are classified according to the degree of danger or damage that may occur if the product is used incorrectly.
DANGER - Failure to follow the instructions will result in death or serious injury.
WARNING - Failure to follow the instructions could result in death or serious injury.
CAUTION - Failure to follow the instructions could result in personal injury or physical damage to equipment and the surrounding area.
WARNING
- Because each bicycle may handle slightly differently depending on the model, learn the proper braking technique (including pressure on the brake lever and bicycle handling characteristics) and operation of your bicycle. Improper use of your bicycle's brake system may result in loss of control, which could lead to a serious injury due to a fall or collision.
- Do not disassemble or modify the product. This may cause the product to malfunction, you may fall unexpectedly and be seriously injured.
- Before riding the bicycle, check that the wheels are securely fastened. You may fall or crash and be seriously injured.
CAUTION
- Only shift one gear at a time with the shift lever (one or two gears in the case of the 11-speed hub). Reduce pressure on the pedals while shifting. If you try to apply force to the shift lever or perform multiple shifts while strongly rotating the pedals, your feet may slip off the pedals, the bicycle may overturn, and you may be seriously injured. Using the shift lever to perform multiple shifts may also cause the outer cable to slip out of the shift lever. This does not affect the functions of the shift lever, as the outer cable will return to its original position after shifting.
- Do not continuously use the brakes when riding down long slopes. With coaster brakes or roller brakes, this will cause the internal parts of the brakes to become very hot and reduce braking performance, as well as the volume of brake grease in the brakes, resulting in noise or problems such as abnormally sudden braking. With hydraulic disc brakes, this can cause a sudden increase in brake lever engagement, cause the brakes to malfunction, and lead to serious injury.
- Perform a warm-up procedure and check the braking force of the brake.
- After finishing riding the bicycle, do not touch the areas around the brake for at least 30 minutes. If the brake is used frequently, the area around the brake may be hot.
