The Zone MIPS helmet is equipped with a hybrid construction combining a durable and ventilated upper part (Hard Shell) with a lower In Mold shell. Zone MIPS is literally packed with technology: the new In Form 2 clamping system with adjustment in the vertical direction, MIPS technology, adjustable ventilation, an integrated holder for a GoPro camera and a magnetic Fidlock buckle. The MIPS system offers increased protection of the brain against rotational forces.

All Giro helmets are designed to absorb as much energy as possible during impact and meet the valid European standard: EN 1077. The goal of the new MIPS technology is to eliminate rotational forces that act on the head in the event of a fall and subsequent impact on the slope. In an impact at any angle, the MIPS system allows the EPS shell of the helmet to rotate independently around the head. Although this movement is only on the order of a few millimeters, we believe that MIPS technology significantly reduces the amount of rotational force that would otherwise be transmitted to the brain.
WHAT IS MIPS (multidirectional Impact Protection System) AND HOW DOES IT WORK?
MIPS is a slippery insert between the EPS shell (helmet body) and the inner linings. In the event of an impact at an angle, the EPS shell of the helmet rotates a few millimeters after the MIPS layer, protecting the head and brain from a violent rotational jerk.
