The blade features excellent sharpness and high abrasion (wear) resistance, allowing it to withstand regular contact with hard materials such as ceramics before requiring resharpening. The advantage of stainless steel is that, unlike carbon steel, it does not require any special maintenance under normal conditions of use. However, it may reach its limits when it comes into prolonged contact with aggressive environments (acid, salt water, cleaning agents...).

Opinel folding knife with a traditional shape and a stainless steel blade. Part of the Opinel Animalia America collection. The French oak handle is decorated with laser engraving with a highlighted image of a bear with a cub.The blade features excellent sharpness and high abrasion (wear) resistance, allowing it to withstand regular contact with hard materials such as ceramics before requiring resharpening.
