Choosing the right climbing crampons is essential for safe and successful climbing and movement in icy terrain. The crampons you select must be compatible with your specific footwear. Check that the climbing crampons fit securely and are compatible with the toe and heel system of the boot. All-purpose climbing crampons often have 10 to 12 spikes, while technical climbing crampons may have 12 or more spikes to improve grip on steep ice and mixed terrain. Look for durable and lightweight materials such as steel or aluminium. Stainless steel provides excellent durability, while aluminium is lighter but may not be as durable in harsh conditions.
