Serrapeptase (serrapeptidase) is a natural, protein-splitting (proteolytic) enzyme produced by a friendly bacterium of the genus Serratia, living in the intestines of the silkworm (Bombyx mori). The enzyme is obtained from enterobacteria Serratia sp. E-15 in a controlled fermentation process. The enzyme contributes to the breakdown and removal of damaged cells from the body.We classify serrapeptase among so-called proteases because its role is to break down unwanted substances in the body that are protein-based – dead tissue, blood clots, cysts, arterial plaque, and inflammation in all its forms. Regardless of the cause or location of the problem in the body, Serrapeptase begins to act at the affected site and stops the inflammatory response. Surprisingly, unlike other biological enzymes, serrapeptase acts only on dead tissue. This is why the silkworm is not broken down by its own enzyme. Serrapeptase dissolves only dead tissues, such as the dead layers clogging the lining of blood vessels. These dangerously restrict blood and oxygen flow to the brain. For this reason, Serrapeptase is extremely useful in preventing the re-accumulation of arterial deposits. In addition, it has the ability to dissolve mucus and inflammation associated with pain. Therefore, its use is also recommended during respiratory tract infections.
Products containing serrapeptase may differ in their effectiveness, which is measured by the enzyme's strength expressed in SPU units (serratiopeptidase units). The higher the number, the higher the enzyme strength and the stronger the effect. According to studies, serrapeptase is an unstable substance in acidic environments and decomposes very quickly in the presence of acid, losing its effectiveness. This can be a problem, as the stomach produces strong hydrochloric acid, which destroys serrapeptase before it reaches the small intestine and bloodstream. Therefore, serrapeptase must be specially applied in an acid-resistant capsule so that it passes through to the small intestine intact, is absorbed through the intestinal villi into the blood, and can thus act at the affected site.
There is only one type of serrapeptase in the world, equally effective for humans and animals. Given the ever-increasing need for care for pets, who are often considered family members, serrapeptase has also been approved as a veterinary preparation to help with various animal diseases. If we compare it to serrapeptase intended for humans, it is exactly the same substance with adapted dosage depending on the size (weight) of the organism.
Recommended dosage:
- Up to 80 kg 1 capsule daily
- Over 80 kg 2 capsules - morning and evening
The capsule content must not be emptied. Capsules must be taken whole and intact for product absorption and safety.
