Petzl SUMMIT 59 cm ice ax
Designed for classic alpinism, the SUMMIT ice ax offers an excellent balance between price and performance. It is light and offers a good grip for both the blade and the tip; it is curved to provide the necessary hand space in steep terrain; it can be used in piolet-canne or piolet-ramp mode, as well as piolet-traction mode on short, steep sections. It is light, but with enough weight in the head for a good jam.
Ergonomic handle:
- The upper part is curved to provide enough room for the hand in steep terrain
- The lower part is straighter and guarantees effective snow penetration
- The blade and tip are made of hot-forged steel and ensure a solid jam
- The tip is thin (3 mm) and serrated at the tip, which ensures good penetration in hard snow and ice
- The tip is thicker in the middle to hold well in soft snow
- The teeth on the upper edge increase the holding of the ice ax in the ax-ramp mode
- Durable stainless steel tip for very good penetration through hard snow in piolet-canne mode
High strength and practical elements: - The very durable steel blade offers a comfortable support surface, and the edge construction enables effective cutting of stairs
- Tilting at an angle directs the shovel correctly into the snow (use of piolet-canne)
- Head and tip equipped with holes for connecting a carabiner or attaching a loop
- Handle made of high-quality aluminum (Aluminum 7075 used in aviation), with an anodized surface for excellent protection
- The handle is shaped into a shoulder blade for a better grip
- The ice ax can be used with the LINKIN loop
