Trek developed its own bottom bracket standard to optimize frame construction. BB90 has a 90.5mm shell width and a 37mm inner diameter and is designed so that the outer bearing cups can be hidden in the frame. The CeramicSpeed kit comes as two bearings, which are then pressed into the frame. These two bearings consist of either CeramicSpeed Standard or Coated Bearings. Both are equipped with super smooth, super round CeramicSpeed balls that rotate in hardened steel races. The Coated version has a race coated metal layer, making it even smoother and harder, resulting in longer lifespan and lower resistance.
