SRAM rear derailleur cage lock adjustment key with spring

The adjustment pin allows the chain gap to be pre-adjusted without the B-bolt in the mounting stand. If the rear derailleur then moves to the SAG position while riding, the chain gap is set correctly.

The prerequisite for this is that the adjustment key is in the correct position (A or B) and that it is matched with the correct adjustment gear (21 or 24 teeth / 7. alebo 6. gear) depending on the frame model. The corresponding assignment for the respective frame can be determined using the SRAM AXS app (or its web version). In T-type rear derailleurs, the adjustment key is also responsible for the Cage Lock mechanism.
