SHIMANO Click`R-System
SHIMANO CLICK’R is the pedal concept aimed at the newcomer to step-in pedals. Compared to conventional flat pedals or toe clips, step-in pedals offer a far more efficient system for transferring power from your legs to the bike. SHIMANO CLICK’R pedals let you ride farther, faster, and longer with less fatigue. Not only that, you also get more stability and control of the bike. So say goodbye to your old energy-sapping shoes and step up to—and into—a smoother ride.Equipped: PD-T700/PD-T400/PD-T420/PD-T421/PD-MT50

WARNING
For installation, adjustment and replacement information of the products which are not found in the user's manual, consult the place of purchase or a distributor. A dealer's manual for professional and experienced bicycle mechanics is available on our website (https://si.shimano.com).
For safety, be sure to read this "user's manual" thoroughly before use, follow it for correct use, and save it so that you can refer back to it at any time.
The following instructions should always be followed in order to prevent personal injury, damage to equipment or damage to the surrounding area. The instructions are classified according to the degree of danger or damage which may occur if the product is used incorrectly.
DANGER – Failure to follow the instructions will result in death or serious injury.
WARNING – Failure to follow the instructions could result in death or serious injury.
CAUTION – Failure to follow the instructions could result in personal injury, or physical damage to equipment and the surrounding area.
WARNING
- In order to ensure the safety of children using this product, instructions on proper usage should be given to the children by their guardians after the guardians and children have fully understood the information below. Failure to follow these instructions may result in serious injury.
- Do not disassemble or modify the product. It may cause the product to not operate correctly, and you may fall unexpectedly and be seriously injured.
- Use caution when using the pedals in a competition or during aggressive riding. The cleats may accidentally release from the pedals and you may fall off the bicycle. These pedals are for recreational use, and are therefore designed for easier engagement and release from the cleats than SPD pedals.
- Before attempting to ride with these pedals and cleats (shoes), be sure to understand the operation of the engagement/release mechanism for the pedals and cleats (shoes). SPD pedals are designed to release only when intended. They are not designed to release automatically in the event of a fall from the bicycle.
- Only use SPD-compatible shoes with this product. Other types of shoes may not release from the pedals, or may release unexpectedly.
- Use only SHIMANO cleats (SM-SH51 / SM-SH56) and securely tighten the mounting bolts to the shoes. If the bolts are not securely tightened, the foot may not release from the pedals during an emergency, or may come off unexpectedly, resulting in a fall.
- Before you attempt to ride with these pedals and cleats, apply the brakes, then put one foot on the ground and practice engaging and releasing each cleat from the pedal until you can do so instinctively and with minimal effort.
- Practice riding on a level surface first until you become adept at engaging and releasing the cleats from the pedals.
- Before riding, adjust the cleat retention force on the pedals to your preference. If the cleat retention force on the pedals is weak, the cleats may release accidentally, you may lose your balance, and you may fall off the bicycle. If the cleat retention force on the pedals is strong, the cleats may not release easily.
- When riding at low speeds or when there is a possibility that you may need to stop (for example, when making a U-turn, at an intersection, when riding uphill or when cornering sharply), release the cleats from the pedals beforehand so that you can quickly put your feet on the ground at any time.
- When riding in adverse conditions, use a weaker cleat retention force to attach the pedal cleats.
- Keep cleats and bindings clear of dirt and debris to ensure proper engagement and release.
- Be sure to periodically check the cleats for wear. When the cleats are worn, replace them and adjust the cleat retention force of the pedals before riding and after replacing the cleats.
- If the above warnings are not heeded, the shoes may not come out of the pedals when you want them to, or they may come out unexpectedly or accidentally, which could result in serious injury.
- Reflectors must be installed on the bicycle whenever riding on public roadways. Reflectors are sold separately for models that do not come standard with reflectors. Consult the place of purchase or a distributor for information on compatible reflectors.
- If the reflectors are dirty or damaged, do not continue riding the bicycle. Otherwise it may be difficult for oncoming vehicles to notice you.
- Do not use the pedals or cleats in any way other than that which is described in the user's manual. When the cleat and pedal are facing forward, the cleat can be released and engaged with the pedal.
Read the user's manual carefully for instructions on using the cleats. Failure to follow the instructions may result in serious injury.
- Read the manual and choose the right product for your needs, considering the type of bicycle, the terrain you will be riding on, and the conditions. Cleats with a single release mode (SM-SH51) and cleats with multiple release modes (SM-SH56) are available for use with these pedals. Cleats such as single release mode cleats (SM-SH52) and multi-directional release mode cleats (SM-SH55) cannot be used, as they lack certain functions, such as not providing stable foot release performance from the pedal and sufficient retention force. If you continue to use such cleats, the shoes may not come out of the pedals when you want them to, or they may come out unexpectedly or accidentally, which could result in falling off the bicycle and serious injury.
