A cassette is a set of gears that play a major role in determining the gear ratios and overall performance of your bike. These components are responsible for smooth and efficient shifting, allowing you to adapt to different terrains and maintain an optimal cadence.

Gear range is an important factor when selecting cassettes and pinions for a road bike. The gear range determines how much difference there is between the smallest and largest pinion.

The large gear range is suitable for riding in a variety of terrains and conditions. For example, if you ride both road bikes and mountain roads, you'll need a cassette with a large gear range so you can easily climb hills while maintaining speed on the flat.
The small gear range is suitable for riding on flat roads. For example, if you're racing, you'll need a cassette with a small gear range so you can easily reach high speeds.

Cartridges and pinions need to be replaced after wear. Wear is manifested by the pinions being jagged and the chain being difficult to move on them.
