E-bike components
Owning an e-bike means taking care of technology that combines classic mechanics with advanced electronics. Whether you're dealing with routine maintenance, repairing a damaged part, or want to upgrade your machine with a more modern display, in this category you'll find components for Bosch, Shimano, Bafang and more.
What will you find here and what should you know about these components?
- Durable chainrings: Your motor generates high torque (Nm) that will quickly destroy conventional chainrings. Here you will find reinforced chainrings and motor spiders designed specifically for the increased load of e-bikes.
- Mechanical motor protection: Protect the "heart" of your bike. High-quality covers and seals prevent moisture and dirt from entering the sensitive motor bearings and electronics.
- Durable cranks: On an e-bike, the cranks are exposed to much more stress than on a conventional bike, as they have to handle the combination of your pressure and the torque of the motor. You will especially appreciate their increased stiffness and often shorter length when off-road.
Are components compatible between different brands of ebike motors?
In the vast majority of cases, no. E-bikes operate as closed ecosystems. You can't connect a Bosch display to a Shimano motor, and the same goes for cabling or sensors. The exceptions are mechanical parts like cranks (if the axle standard fits, e.g. ISIS) or chainrings, which are also manufactured by third-party brands specifically for the drivetrain.
Is the original plastic cover enough to protect the motor?
The original covers are designed more as protection against dirt and splashing water. If you ride in difficult terrain, where there is a risk of hitting rocks or tree trunks, I recommend that you look for reinforced service covers. The quality cover that you will find with us protects not only the motor body itself, but also sensitive places where the wiring enters the power unit.
Why does my motor turn off assistance while driving?
The most common cause is a poorly adjusted or dirty magnet on the rear wheel spoke. If the speed sensor loses the signal from the magnet, the control unit will turn off the assistance for safety reasons. Before you start disassembling the motor, check that the magnet is exactly opposite the line on the sensor and that it is not loose.
