Castelli Unlimited Perfetto RoS 2 jacket
100% wind and water protection GORE-TEX INFINIUM™ WINDSTOPPER® with best-in-class breathability. With a light base layer, it is suitable for mild weather, or with a warm layer you can drive even below freezing. If you only have one jacket in your cycling wardrobe, this should be it.The original Perfetto RoS jacket was designed as a cold and extreme weather training jacket for racers. The Unlimited is identical to the standard Perfetto RoS 2 with a long sleeve , but with new graphics that are more ideal for off-road use, i.e. gravel and mtb. The "2" part of the name refers to the latest version's updates, including a two-way YKK® Vislon® zipper for even better adjustable ventilation. The reflective elements on the back are more visible, the seam at the top of the shoulder has been moved to the back and the three pockets can hold more things. The Perfetto still remains fit for performance, but the new model feels more roomy across the chest, shoulder and biceps.
This is a jacket that belongs in every cyclist's equipment.
If you look closely, the Perfetto RoS 2 is basically a long-sleeve version of the Gabba RoS 2 . So is it just a warmer Gabba? Not quite. The long sleeves make it a jacket that covers a wide range of conditions. Like the Gabba, the RoS mark means it excels in dry conditions thanks to its high breathability, as well as in wet conditions thanks to Castelli's exclusive GORE-TEX INFINIUM™ WINDSTOPPER® fabrics. On the front is a material with a light fleece inside and with water resistance on the surface, while a lighter and more flexible fabric is on the back. This maximizes breathability and comfort, while providing excellent water repellency.
The Perfetto RoS 2 Unlimited jacket keeps out all the cold wind while being much more breathable than the typical polyurethane membranes used on most jackets that try to compete with the Perfetto. Since you stay drier, you don't need as many layers underneath. The beauty of this jacket is that it has no insulation on its own, so a thin base layer is just right for mild conditions, while adding an insulating layer (warm jersey or Castelli Alpha 2nd Layer) will get you below freezing. You decide.
