A small piece of plastic that makes a huge difference. In this category, you will find MTB front fenders (often called mudguards or marsh guards), which mount directly onto the bridge of a mountain bike's suspension fork.

Unlike large and bulky touring fenders, these models are designed specifically for modern mountain biking (Trail, Enduro, XC, Downhill). They are light, unobtrusive, do not rattle and hold like nails in difficult terrain.

Why do you need a front fork fender?

Clear view (safety): The main purpose of this fender is not to keep your jersey clean, but to protect your face and eyes. It stops mud and water that the front wheel throws up at high speed and into the rider's field of vision.
Fork protection: The fender acts as a shield for the sensitive parts of the fork. It traps rocks and mud that would otherwise bombard the inner legs and fork seals. This significantly extends the life of the suspension and reduces the need for service.

What types of fenders are there?

Universal (strap attachment): The most common type. They are made of flexible plastic and are attached to the fork bridge using zip ties. They fit 99% of mountain bikes and all wheel diameters (26", 27.5", 29").
Fixed "Bolt-On" fenders: A modern solution for forks from brands like Fox, RockShox, SR Suntour, and Öhlins. These fenders screw directly into the prepared threads on the fork bridge. The result is a cleaner look, higher stiffness, and no scuffing of the paintwork with tape.
Extended versions: For riders who ride in extreme conditions and need maximum protection from spray.
