pri 1X systemoch je to v poriadku - na 10/11-rychlostne prevodniky je mozne pouzit aj 9-rychlostnu retaz, je len mierne sirsia. Problemom to je pri 2x setupoch, kedy kvoli jej sirke dochadza ku kontaktu retaze s druhym prevodnikom.
