WARNING
Information on the installation, adjustment, and replacement of products not found in the user's manual can be obtained from the place of purchase or a distributor. A dealer's manual intended for professional and experienced bicycle mechanics can be found on our website (https://si.shimano.com).
For safety, thoroughly read this “user's manual” before use, follow it for proper use, and store it for future reference.
The following instructions must always be followed to prevent personal injury and physical damage to equipment and surroundings. Instructions are classified according to the degree of danger or damage that may occur if the product is used incorrectly.
DANGER - Failure to follow the instructions will result in death or serious injury.
WARNING - Failure to follow the instructions could result in death or serious injury.
CAUTION - Failure to follow the instructions could result in personal injury or physical damage to equipment and surroundings.
WARNING
- Before riding the bicycle, check that the wheels are securely fastened. Improper use of the thru-axle release lever / quick release lever may cause the wheel to fall off, etc., and may lead to serious injury due to a fall.
- Tires should be inflated to the pressure indicated on the tires or rims before use. If a maximum pressure is indicated on the tires or rims, do not exceed the lower indicated value.
WH-M9000-TL: Maximum pressure = 2.8 bar / 41 psi / 280 kPa
WH-M9020-TL: Maximum pressure = 2.6 bar / 38 psi / 260 kPa
WH-M8000-TL: Maximum pressure = 3 bar / 44 psi / 300 kPa
WH-M8020-TL: Maximum pressure = 3 bar / 44 psi / 300 kPa
WH-M8100-TL: Maximum pressure = 3 bar / 44 psi / 300 kPa
WH-M8120-TL: Maximum pressure = 2.5 bar / 36 psi / 250 kPa
- Higher than indicated pressure can cause sudden bursting and/or sudden tire release, resulting in serious injury.
- Before riding the bicycle, thoroughly inspect the wheels and ensure there are no cracks on the axles; if you find any signs of cracks or other unusual conditions, DO NOT USE the bicycle. This wheel was not designed for downhill or freeride cycling. Depending on riding conditions, the wheel axle may crack. This can lead to wheel axle failure, which can result in an accident that could cause serious injury or even death.
- Before riding the bicycle, check the wheels to ensure that the spokes are not bent or loose and that there are no nicks, scratches, or cracks on the rim surface. If you find any of these problems, do not use the wheel. The wheel may break, and you may fall. Check that there is no carbon separation or cracking.
- Do not use with rim brakes. These wheels are designed exclusively for use with disc brakes. They are not compatible with rim brakes.
- After thoroughly reading the instruction manual, store this manual in a safe place for future reference.
E-THRU hub axle type wheel
- Check that even after securely tightening the thru-axle release lever, the thru-axle release lever does not interfere with the disc brake rotor. If the thru-axle release lever is on the same side as the disc brake rotor, there is a possibility that they will interfere with each other. If it interferes with the disc brake rotor, stop using it and contact the place of purchase or a distributor.
- Check how the thru-axle release lever is used. If the thru-axle release lever is not used correctly, the wheel may fall off the bicycle, resulting in serious injury.
F15 E-THRU hub axle type wheel
- This wheel can be used in combination with a special front fork and E-THRU. If used in combination with any other front fork or hub axle, the wheel may detach from the bicycle during riding, resulting in serious personal injury.
- When mounting the front wheel to a front suspension fork, always follow the instructions in the instruction manual for the front suspension fork. The securing method, as well as the tightening torque of the front wheel, differ depending on the type of front suspension fork used. If you do not follow the instructions, the front wheel may fall out of the front suspension fork, resulting in serious injury.
Quick release type wheel
- Check that even after tightening the quick release lever as much as possible by hand, the quick release lever does not interfere with the disc brake rotor. If the quick release lever is on the same side as the disc brake rotor, there is a danger that it will interfere with the disc brake rotor. If it interferes with the disc brake rotor, stop using it and contact the place of purchase or a distributor.
CAUTION
- Tires should be inflated to the pressure indicated on the tires before use.
- If using a puncture repair agent, consult your dealer or representative.
Warm-up period
- Disc brakes have a certain warm-up period, and braking force gradually increases as the warm-up period continues. Make sure to avoid any such increases in braking force while using the brakes during the warm-up period. The same thing happens when brake pads or the rotor are replaced.
