Do you need reliable skins that have long durability, excellent 'riding' properties, and hold well on frozen snow as well as on spring corn snow? These are exactly the Summit Skin SMU Mixmohair climbing skins. With a 50:50 glide-to-climb ratio, they are ideal for fast ascents up mountains. You can then put all your energy into a great descent. A comfortable ascent is supported by fiber impregnation that prevents snow from sticking to the skins and a membrane that prevents moisture from reaching the glue, so the skins hold firmly even in changing conditions throughout the entire season.The skins are designed for frequent use. The combination of high-quality mohair and nylon (65% mohair and 35% nylon) ensures an optimal balance between excellent glide, climbing ability, and long durability.
For the skin to hold reliably on the ski base, both the ski base and the adhesive layer must be dry. If moisture from the snow gets onto the glue, it stops working, peels off, gets dirty, and doesn't hold. For this reason, these skins use PU membrane application technology between the layer with the brushed hair and the layer with the applied glue, making the skins 100% waterproof. You can enjoy your ski touring trip without worries, as the glue holds firmly, doesn't get dirty, and works great even on spring corn snow in wet conditions.
With frequent use or after a few seasons, the effect of the impregnation may decrease. In this case, you can easily restore it with impregnation spray or impregnation wax. The wax is small and convenient to carry in your backpack, especially for multi-day tours.
For the easiest uphill climb, it is important to have the largest possible area of the ski base covered by the skins. Therefore, it is important to choose the correct width and length of the skins. That's why the skins are supplied in a width of 120 mm and lengths from 156 to 183 cm in 6 cm increments, and you can easily trim the skins 2.5 mm from the side edge to perfectly match the shape of your skis.
