Climbing Technology Alpine-Up belay set, grey/light blue
ALPINE UP is the most comprehensive and versatile belaying and rappelling device ever made. It was developed specifically for mountaineering and can be used with half, double and single ropes. It is easy to operate, intuitive and safe even in the event of an error. It is particularly advantageous that it enables self-locking rappelling and can be used in three different belay modes, depending on the terrain.

Individual insurance modes
Belaying the first climber in CLICK UP mode (semi-automatic belay = braking with manual assistance):- It works on the principle of a semi-automatic CLICK UP belay, but it can be used both with a single rope and with twin or half ropes. It works without the need to operate any lever or moving parts and allows a fall to be arrested simply by holding the free end(s) of the rope in your hand.
- Suitable for belaying first-time climbers in multi-length sports routes, secured with rivets.
- Suitable for securing directly through the securing eye of the seat or directly into the stand.
- It allows the belayer to easily lower the co-climber to the ground - just apply moderate pressure from the top of the belayer while keeping the free end of the rope under control.
- Safe even if the ropes are inserted the other way round! In this case, the ALPINE UP does not work as a semi-automatic safety device, but as a classic safety bucket, thanks to the V-shaped grooves to increase the braking effect.
- In this mode, it functions as a self-locking rappelling device. To abseil, it is necessary to release the plastic lever and press it with the palm of your hand so that the blocked rope can slide. With the other hand, you can then regulate the abseiling speed as with other types of abseiling devices. When you let go of the rope, the ALPINE UP automatically locks and you stay hanging. This solution replaces safety pins, which are necessary in the case of roping on another belaying device.
- It works on the principle of a classic bucket, suitable for dynamic fall capture.
- After the fall of the first climber, the belay is not blocked and the belay can reduce the severity of the caught fall by slipping the rope.
- Suitable for belaying first climbers in traditional multi-length routes when we use friends, staples, lenses as progressive belay and when automatic fall blocking is not suitable.
- Braking of the rope slipping during a fall is ensured by the friction of the rope in the "V"-shaped grooves, just like with a classic bucket.
- It allows the first climber to start, or abseil, just like with a classic bucket.
- Independent and self-locking belay of one or two co-climbers.
- The possibility of gradual release of the rope/lowering of the co-climber even under load, by placing an additional carabiner in the corresponding hole and lifting the lower side of the belay.
To be used exclusively with the HMS carabiner CONCEPT SGL HC
The ALPINE UP is supplied and must be used together with the specific HMS carabiner CONCEPT SGL HC with wear-resistant anodizing and the ACL system (steel feather preventing the carabiner from turning over), which prevents the possibility of the carabiner turning and possible overloading of its secondary axis.Features of the carabiner:
- Prominent double T profile for excellent weight/strength ratio
- Lightened and shaped for a better grip.
- The nose of the carabiner does not have a beak so that it does not catch when it is clicked in and out.
- The ACL system - a steel feather that allows the carabiner to be attached to the securing eye of the seat, which fixes its position and thus prevents cross-overloading of the carabiner.
- Longitudinal load capacity (main axis): 23 kN
- Lateral load capacity (secondary axis): 10 kN
- Longitudinal load capacity when the lock is open: 7 kN
- Weight: 77 g
- Size: 105x73 mm
- Lock clearance: 21 mm
