Black Crows Vertis 170, T13 - KH SMU set
Vertis 2022/2023 set
If you're a fan of medium and short curves with fast feeding on a hard slope, but at the same time you're not afraid to cross into open terrain, the Vertis Black Crows is made for you. In the morning you can enjoy a modified Manchester on it, during lunch you will play with the accumulated snow on a well-trodden slope and in the afternoon you will surf on a wet firm. This flexible ski will surprise you with its playfulness and precision, while riding it will give you the appropriate comfort without losing dynamics. The ideal choice of a hybrid set for both downhill and ski slopes.
On the ski slope, on a well-trodden slope, even in wet snow
- Width 85 mm - even on a hard slope you will quickly lose, and on soft snow, sufficient buoyancy will keep you on the surface. Driving pleasure in all conditions.
- Gentle rocker at the tip - in soft snow, the ski guides perfectly, and its stability will not be threatened even by minor irregularities.
- Comfortable flex - the ski adapts to the hardness of the snow - the softer the snow, the better the ski floats.
- Fiberglass reinforcement under the binding - longitudinal stiffness - you can ski over bumps and accumulated snow with confidence.
Playful and dynamic driving will become a matter of course
- 15 m radius - short and medium curves will suit you perfectly.
- Width 85 mm - quick feeding allows you to easily keep the ski on the edge.
- Poplar core - flexibility and agility of the ski will add lightness and dynamism to your ride.
Comfortable ride with simple controls
- Long camber - long effective edge - great contact with the snow will give you stability in the curve.
- Comfortable flex - even a small impulse is enough for you and you will be in the arc.
- Triaxial and biaxial torsion reinforcements - torsional stiffness, excellent edge grip - you will feel stable in the bend and the skis will not jump anywhere.
- ABS side wall - dampens vibrations - your feet will not suffer even on hard icy snow.
Enjoy a perfect ride on and off the piste
- DNA Black Crows - a different philosophy than racing brands - if you want to enjoy skiing without limits on the entire slope - from the first cabin in the morning to the last ride in the evening after the slopes are closed.
- A ski designed by an Olympian from Nagano - Julien Regnier, the designer of Black Crows, combined the precision of a downhill ski and the charisma of a freeride ski in the Vertis model.
- Gentle rocker at the tip - off the piste, you will be surprised how easily the ski goes over unevenness, as well as in deep snow it brings you to the surface and makes riding easier.
On the slopes and on the ski slopes with one set
If you install a lighter freeride or skialp binding on the Vertis Black Crows, you get a universal hybrid set with which you can cut curves in the morning and get out of the hustle and bustle of the ski resort after lunch. You will especially appreciate its lightness and versatility, which will bring you a lot of unforgettable experiences (not only) on the slopes.
Fritschi Tecton 13
The Fritschi Tecton 13 binding is intended for freeriders who demand uncompromising driving characteristics, high safety and low weight for off-piste virgin powder. Fritschi Tecton 13 is the first freeride spike binding with a safety tip and the stiffest downhill heel on the market . For all those who are looking for bindings for the slopes and pedaling, but do not want to compromise on factors such as safety or binding stiffness and driving characteristics.
The main advantages of the Fritschi Tecton 13 binding:
- It turns off reliably and with Swiss precision only at the moment of a fall, not when the terrain is uneven (the toe and heel of the binding can absorb shocks thanks to dynamic elasticity).
- It switches off purposefully even in walking mode - when covered by an avalanche, loss of balance during ascent or falling during short descents on tracks.
- Rigid downhill heel for perfect transmission of forces from the legs to the skis - perfect downhill properties.
- The sliding heel adapts to the bending of the ski, so you can use its full potential.
- Possibility to switch from walking mode to downhill mode without untying the shoes.
- Controlling tying with a mallet or in a simple curl is a bonus that will make the whole day's hike more pleasant .
Pedaling and yet downhill binding
Downhill bindings are proven and their heel construction is unsurpassed, and that's where the Fritschi Tecton 13 comes from. Its rigid non-rotating heel without a joint has no backlash and enables the direct transfer of forces from the ski boot to the edge of the ski. Thus, better controllability and driving safety are achieved. Furthermore, a better transmission of forces is also achieved by means of:
- the spoon is pressed by the jaw of the heel on a large area,
- the grooves in the heel fit into the inserts on the shoe and thus increase the lateral stiffness of the binding,
- I lean the ski boot on the heel pad,
- large screw spacing,
- by attaching the heel directly to the ski,
- large and wide contact area under the toe and heel.
The heel of the binding is loaded with 4x more force than the toe when riding, and that is why the Tecton 13 has a sensitive toe and a stiff (downhill) heel. Thanks to the precise transfer of the load to the edge of the ski , you will fully enjoy your ride.
Really stiff heel for a perfect riding experience
The spoon does not move even a millimeter in the heel thanks to the Power Rail grooves, which protrude from the heel and fit exactly into the grooves in the ski boot intended for the rear binding tips. In this way , the spoon is fixed in the vertical and horizontal direction and your every movement is transferred from the ski boot to the ski without loss of energy. Thanks to this, you will be able to control the skis perfectly and have the much-needed confidence when driving. This will be appreciated not only by every good rider, but also by a beginner who is still getting used to free terrain.
Excellent skiing thanks to the active heel
The active sliding heel adapts to the ski boot by up to 10 mm when the ski bends during the ride and enables smooth bending of the ski along its entire length, which is a necessary feature of the binding for perfect skiing. A binding that does not have an active heel will prevent the ski from bending, stiffening the middle, and the ski will bend only before and behind the binding, which significantly worsens its driving characteristics. Fritschi has eliminated this problem, which is why the Tecton 13 binding is also great for all-day resort skiing.
The highest safety for spike bindings
The Fritschi Tecton 13 ski mountaineering binding is based on the design of a downhill binding, where the toe switches off to the sides according to the DIN switch-off force setting . Thanks to this, it shuts off precisely under rotational forces and does not cause torsional fractures. Health and safety is the main principle that the Swiss manufacturer Fritschi deals with in the development of its products. Safety is more important than weight.
Only turns binding off when you really need it
With classic spike bindings, it is easy to accidentally switch off during a descent, which can have fatal consequences on steep descents. The construction solution of the toe and foot of the Tecton 13 binding has a dynamic elasticity of 13 mm or 9 mm, which in other words can be imagined as clearance to absorb the forces arising from driving over bumps or sudden impacts. Even when driving vigorously on hard or heavy snow , there is no unwanted shutdown.
- The Fritschi Tecton 13 doesn't shut off too soon, but only after overcoming 13 mm of lateral travel at the toe and 9 mm up at the heel.
- This path is sufficient to consume energy so that the binding does not switch off unintentionally after a short-term exceedance of the set tripping force DIN - in the event of a jump or bumping into an unevenness.
- The binding switches to the side even with the toe set for walking - an important feature when buried in an avalanche, losing balance during ascent or falling on short descents on tracks.
The dynamic elasticity of the Fritschi Tecton 13 binding is the same as the downhill binding that the Fritschi company has been producing for over 30 years and today uses this know-how in the development of skialp bindings.
Safe and lightweight freetouring binding
The weight of the equipment is also important, which is why the Fritschi Tecton 13 binding is made of carbon and fiberglass, now complemented by proven modern polymers. From design to production, everything takes place in Switzerland. Polymers reinforced with carbon and fiberglass are lighter than metal parts and at the same time have higher strength and durability. Although light weight is very important, the Fritschi brand always prioritizes safety and reliability.
Easy to turn on even on a steep slope
The new generation Fritschi Tecton 13 has an innovative designed tip that you can "kick" even blindly because it has:
- stops from below,
- stops from the sides,
- stop on the tip of the ski boot,
- sensitive trigger.
Thanks to this, when turning on the tip of the ski boot, it is precisely guided into the correct position - it is located between the spikes and a sensitive trigger, and even with a little pressure, it releases the spikes, which fit exactly into the inserts in the ski boot.
Binding properties
- Comfortable control with a mallet or with bent knees - you can comfortably switch the binding to the rising position and adjust the heel with the mallet. To switch to downhill, the binding of the Fritschi Tecton 13 can be controlled with just the wand without the need to bend over to bind.
- Switching from downhill to ascent without turning off the spoon - you can comfortably switch from downhill to walking with the Tecton 12 binding by lifting the heel, when the entire heel is subsequently pushed back. You will appreciate this during ridge hikes or short passages of descent during the ascent, when it is safer to turn your heel into the downhill position on the belts.
- It does not freeze - the Fritsichi Tecton 13 ski binding is designed so that snow does not get into it, which could compress and turn into ice. Therefore, the binding works reliably in any snow and temperature.
- Adjustable binding dimensions – The heel of the binding is adjustable up to 25 mm (60 mm when using a rental mat). The binding is not compatible with "noseless" spoons TLT 7, TLT 8, DNA, PDG, Arcteryx Procline, and all that have a shank shorter than 6 mm, such as Atomic Backland (an extension is required here).
- Drilling for any ski - Fritschi Tecton 13 has easily replaceable brakes (80/90/100/110/120mm) and thanks to this it is possible to drill the binding for any other ski.
- Harshajzny - the binding is compatible with Harshajznym and there is no need to switch off the binding when putting them on. The binding is also adapted to use a safety line.

Reliable glue in all circumstances
Summit Skin are made with the help of the best technologies on the market. Thousands of ski alpinists rely on the proven Hot-Melt adhesive for a long time:
- also suitable for severe frosts - they hold reliably even at -30°C
- snow does not get between the slide and the belt - it maintains excellent grip even on the edges of the slide
- it is necessary to use separation films or nets
- the glue lasts a long time - it is resistant to wear
- environmentally friendly - without solvents and other toxic substances
- the strips come off really easily without brute force
Climbing belts with a long service life
Summit Skin SMU Mixmohair belts are intended for frequent use. The combination of high-quality mohair and nylon (65% mohair and 35% nylon) ensures an optimal ratio between excellent glide, climbability and long life:
- Mohair has excellent sliding properties, which saves a lot of effort when climbing.
- Nylon (synthetic polymer) lends the belts more resistance and has a better wet slip than mohair in spring weather.
- "W" fiber braiding, which is more durable, with good glide and holds well when climbing even on frozen snow.
- The layer with fibers is made of a mixture of high-quality cotton and polyester - increased resistance to tearing and wear.
It holds firmly even in spring weather
In order for the climbing belt to reliably hold on the slide, both the slide and the adhesive layer must be dry. If moisture from the snow gets on the glue, it stops working, peels off, freezes and doesn't hold. For this reason, these Summit Skin SMU Mixmohair climbing belts use the technology of applying a PU membrane between the layer with braided hair and the layer with applied glue, and the belts are therefore 100% waterproof. So you can enjoy your ski tour without worries, because the glue holds firmly, does not freeze and works great even in spring winters on wet snow.
Impregnated climbing belts
Good risers must hold well on the skis and glide well on the snow. Wet snow can stick to wet tracks, and there is nothing more annoying than having to drag half a kilo of snow on your leg. The belts stop sliding, it takes a lot of force unnecessarily. All Summit Skin climbing belts are impregnated with fluorocarbon and snow does not stick to them.
- The impregnation repels moisture and thus prevents snow from sticking to the fibers.
- The impregnation improves the glide - climbing belts are faster and movement is easier.
- Impregnation increases the resistance of the fibers - climbing belts last longer.
- Climbing belts dry faster.
- The impregnation is environmentally friendly - without solvents and toxic substances and is biodegradable.
Still like new
With frequent use or after several seasons, the impregnation effect may decrease. In this case , you can easily renew it with KOHLA DRY CLIMB skin impregnation spray or KOHLA impregnation wax. The wax is small and convenient to have on a hike in a backpack, especially for a several-day transition.
