Nikwax TX.Direct Spray-On waterproofing
Give your outdoor gear an extra layer of protection from the rain by spraying on this waterproofing treatment. It is designed for breathable and waterproof textiles. It is also suitable for Gore-Tex, Ultrex, Sympa-Tex, Permatex, Nikwax Analogy, Entrant, eVENT, Pertex membranes and others. Reapply annually or as needed.Instructions for use:
For best results, remove any non-washable parts and wash with Nikwax® TechWash® in a separate wash cycle before waterproofing. It is not necessary to dry the garments beforehand. Shake well before use. Respect the symbols indicated on the product.- Spread the clean, wet garment evenly on a covered surface
- Hold the bottle about 15 cm from the garment being treated during application
- Apply evenly to the outside of the garment
- Allow to absorb and after two minutes, remove excess with a damp cloth
- Carefully check that no spot has been missed on the treated garment
Volume guide: these volumes are approximate and depend on the condition of the fabric being treated. Jacket 250 ml; suit 400 ml; trousers 150 ml; gaiters 70 ml.

The impregnation spray has a bearable smell and can also be used indoors. It protects against water quite well: I sprayed one layer on the jacket in the evening, left it to act overnight; the next morning I put it on in the rain, and small balls of water formed on it, which easily ran down to the ground. Some moisture also penetrated the jacket, but when I came back indoors, it dried at room temperature by lunchtime. Maybe 2-3 applications are needed for the spray to protect against water more thoroughly. The spray is not pressurized, but mechanical. The sprayer sprays with a large dispersion even at close range: you have to apply it really close. It's a shame that it doesn't have 100ml more: Collonil Carbon Pro has 400ml and the impregnation protects better after the first use, but it smells a lot and irritates the respiratory tract.
