Giro Owen Spherical helmet, matt trail green
If you feel just as good off-piste as you do on the slopes, then we created the Owen model just for you. The minimalist shape is combined with technological gadgets such as Spherical Powered by Mips technology. It works on the principle of a joint - the shell of the helmet consists of two hemispheres that move together like a joint. The outer shell can rotate around the inner shell in the event of an impact, reducing the forces that would otherwise act directly on the head and brain. It is such a suspension inside the helmet. The In Form2 clamping system allows you to adjust the height of the helmet in addition to pulling it down with the wheel. For a completely clean design, we moved the Thermostat Stealth ventilation control inside the helmet. Under the chin, everything is secured by a magnetic Fidlock buckle.

MIPS IS A MOVEMENT
PROGRESS IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF SKI HELMETS
All Giro helmets are designed to absorb as much energy as possible during impact and meet the applicable European standard: EN 1077. The goal of the new MIPS technology is to eliminate rotational forces that act on the head in the event of a fall and subsequent impact on the slope. In an impact at any angle, the MIPS system allows the EPS shell of the helmet to rotate independently around the head. Although this movement is only on the order of a few millimeters, we believe that MIPS technology significantly reduces the amount of rotational force that would otherwise be transmitted to the brain.
WHAT IS MIPS (Multidirectional Impact Protection System) and how does it work?
MIPS is a slippery insert between the EPS shell (helmet body) and the inner linings. In the event of an impact at an angle, the EPS shell of the helmet rotates a few millimeters after the MIPS layer, protecting the head and brain from a violent rotational jerk.
