The R7 has a great history of combining lightness with performance and reliability. The latest reincarnation is no different from the icon. The new expert R7 combines excellent damping thanks to VTT's patented 3-position two-piston damper with light and stiff 32 mm legs.

Expert Air
The Manitou Expert air spring system features a unique balancing valve that balances the positive and negative air chambers during the air filling process. This gives the spring a stable and consistent feel without any stiff or dead spots in the stroke.

When developing the VTT Pro shock absorber, we set ourselves the goal of maintaining a rock-solid lockout without compromises, which does not affect the operation in the open and middle settings of the fork. The downside of many fixed lockout dampers is that in any position other than lockout you reach a critical shaft speed that dampens the flow path at low speed. If this occurs, the lockout exerts almost the same blocking force as in the closed position. Not only will your hands feel this, but it will probably also cause a lack of control when driving.
VTT aims to eliminate this ailment while maintaining the lockout that most XC users use. This allows the fork to have a less progressive high-speed response while maintaining some support at low speeds without being uncomfortable. This is achieved by independent shimstacks (one for blocking, one for the other two positions). By controlling the stack liner through which the oil flow is diverted, we can manipulate the damper characteristics such as Lock-out, degressive or progressive to meet the rider's requirements for the terrain he is riding.

Lower legs
When developing any Manitou fork, our primary goal is to achieve the perfect balance of weight, stiffness and reliability. Thanks to our Reverse Arch system, we are able to place the bridge further away from the tire. This solution provides 13% more stiffness compared to a front bridge on a fork of equivalent weight. Legs with a diameter of 32 mm provide high rigidity for riding even in difficult terrain, but while maintaining a favorable weight.
