FOX Float X2 Factory Trunnion shock
With an all-new design and internals for 2026, the FLOAT X2 is the world's first four-plane adjustable monotube mountain bike shock. The switch to a monotube further increases durability and also allows for full pressure balancing for greater usable range. The FLOAT X2's unmatched four-way adjustability remains, making it the definitive gravity air shock optimized for downhill and enduro racing.
One of the design goals of the new FLOAT X2 shock was to close the performance gap with the award-winning GRIP X2 fork shock, which was launched in 2024. Racers and riders loved the increased traction and support of GRIP X2 cushioning and reduced fatigue. The larger base valve and more individual valves in the FLOAT X2 shock - combined with the pressure-balanced setup - means the shock now performs on par with the GRIP X2 shock with ultimate grip, more control and a more comfortable ride.
Pressure balancing was necessary to meet the goal of achieving the same damping performance of the GRIP X2. With greater control over the shock's rebound stroke, the rear tire behaves more predictably, leading to greater rider confidence. The twin tube architecture of the previous FLOAT X2 shock didn't meet the pressure balance requirements, so we switched to a monotube design. This also gave us the opportunity to increase the head shaft diameter from 3/8" (9.5 mm) to 1" (12.7 mm) for even greater strength and durability. However, the transition to a monotube retained the 4-way adjustability and thus became a challenge.
The four-way setup gives riders and racers an advantage when fractions of a second matter. Now the FLOAT X2 and DHX2 models offer this unmatched tuning range in the world's first 4-way adjustable monotube shock.
