Whether you're bothered by an annoying popping sound or need to replace worn bearings, you can't do without a special bottom bracket puller. What types of movers are there?

Choose your tool according to the type of bottom bracket:

Classic squares and ISIS: For older or affordable bikes, there are square-end pullers that are compatible with regular ratchets or open-end wrenches.
External cups: Modern bikes with a hollow axle require a special key for a bottom bracket with teeth (e.g. for Hollowtech or DUB bottom brackets). We offer them in the form of a flat wrench or socket head.
Press-fit bottom brackets: If your bottom bracket is pressed directly into the frame, we offer press kits and knock-out tools for safe removal without the risk of cracking your carbon or aluminium frame.

How do I know which centre puller I need?

First, identify the type of bottom bracket. If your bike has visible cups with external grooves, it's probably a Hollowtech II or similar system. If the axle is hidden in the frame and you only see the internal grooves, you'll need a square drive or ISIS puller.

Is it true that bottom brackets have a reverse thread?

Yes, most bikes with BSA threads (English threads) have a left-handed thread on the right side (the side with the chain). This means that it loosens in a clockwise direction. On the other hand, Italian threads (ITA) have a classic right-handed thread on both sides. Therefore, always check the thread type on the frame before using force.
