Hex and Torx tools
Whether you're building a new bike from the frame or just need to fine-tune the position of your brake levers, you can't do without quality wrenches. Allen wrenches (internal hexagons) and Torx wrenches (star-shaped) are the most commonly used types of tools in the modern cycling industry. With us you'll find tools that will ensure that every screw is tightened with maximum precision and without the risk of damage.
Why invest in special bike tools?
You may have a set of Allen keys in your garage, but bicycle components require a specific approach:
Precise tolerance: Our Allen key sets are manufactured with minimal tolerances, preventing "stripping" of aluminium or titanium screws.
T-handles and extended arms: Ergonomic wrenches with handles allow for comfortable work and the development of the necessary force even in hard-to-reach places.
Durable materials: Tools made of hardened CR-V steel (chrome-vanadium) or S2 steel guarantee a long service life even with frequent use in professional service.
Torx keys: A necessity for modern bikes
With the rise in popularity of components from brands like SRAM and Campagnolo, Torx wrenches (especially the T25 size) have become a must-have. They are used to secure brake discs, shifter sleeves, and chainring bolts. We offer both individual wrenches and complete sets that cover all standards from T10 to T30.
What is the difference between a classic Allen key and a Torx key?
The Allen key has a hexagonal shape and is the most common standard on bicycles (stem bolts, seatpost bolts, brakes). The Torx key has a six-pointed star shape. Torx allows for higher torque transmission with less risk of damaging the bolt head. On bicycles, Torx (especially T25) is mainly used for brake discs and lightweight components.
What does "ball end" mean on an Allen key?
The long side of an Allen key often has a ball end that allows you to tighten or loosen screws at an angle of up to 25°. This is an invaluable aid when working in tight spaces, such as when installing bottle cages or adjusting some types of brakes.
Which Allen key sizes are most important for a bicycle?
The most commonly used sizes are 4 mm, 5 mm and 6 mm. These cover 80 % of the screws on a bike. Smaller sizes (2 mm, 2.5 mm) are found on derailleur adjustment screws, while the 8mm wrench is usually used for pedals or bottom brackets.
Why is it important to use quality tools for carbon bikes?
Carbon is sensitive to precision. Cheap and inaccurate wrenches can easily damage the screw head, which leads to expensive repairs on carbon components. When working with carbon, we recommend combining quality Allen wrenches with a torque wrench to ensure you do not exceed the prescribed tightening limit (Nm).
What should I do if my Allen key "slips" in a screw?
Stop tightening the screw immediately. You probably have either a worn-out wrench or a damaged screw head. Try using a new, high-quality wrench. If the screw head is already stripped, it can sometimes help to use a Torx wrench that is slightly larger and taps it into place, or special screw extractors.
