Bike kickstands
Forget about leaning your bike against walls or placing it on the ground, where you risk scratching the frame or bending the derailleur. With the right kickstand, your bike stands securely without leaning, whether you're carrying heavy bike bags or just need to park in front of the store in a flash.
How to choose the right bike kickstand?
When choosing, focus mainly on where the kickstand can be attached to your bike. Every frame is different, so there are several types of kickstands:
- Rear bike stand: The most popular choice for modern bikes. It mounts to the rear of the frame (often on special holes with a spacing of 18 mm or 40 mm, known as KSA 18/40). These kickstands are extremely stable and do not interfere with your pedaling. They are also ideal if you have a bike with disc brakes.
- Center stand: A classic that you'll find mainly on city and cross bikes. It attaches to the space behind the bottom bracket (between the cranks). It's unobtrusive and works great on lighter bikes without a rear rack.
- Adjustable kickstand for every size: Do you have a bike with 24, 27.5 or 29-inch wheels? Some kickstands are telescopically adjustable. Simply adjust the length so that your bike is at the ideal angle and doesn't tip over.
- Bike stands for little cyclists: Children rarely care for their things, but their own bike stand will teach them to be tidy. There are special Woom bike stands for children and other children's models that are light and easy for children to handle thanks to a soft spring.
Will the stand fit if I have disc brakes?
Yes, you can, you just have to choose the right model. Most modern rear kickstands are designed to not interfere with the disc brake caliper. If you have KSA holes on your frame, you're in luck. If not, look for a universal rear rack that mounts from the outside.
Can I mount the stand on a carbon frame?
Be careful here. With carbon frames, the installation of classic clamping stands (which tighten the frame tubes) is not recommended, as they could damage the carbon structure. If your carbon frame does not have integrated stand holes from the factory, it is better to consult our service.
Will the stand hold a heavy e-bike?
You need a lot of material for an e-bike. Choose from the category of stands marked E-bike ready. They have a higher load capacity (often up to 25-30 kg) and a wider end so that your bike doesn't sink into the dirt or asphalt.
