I cleaned it with the original preparation and it was really cleaned very well. It's actually worse than cleaning the buckle itself. You can pick out the whisky-type things from it, but it's probably best to just pour it out and rub it on a little. The first time I tried to rinse it in water, but I waited and it was confirmed that it was not an ideal solution since I use oil for the chain. And oil and water do not mix. So next time I'll just pour it out and wipe it off.
