Short-sleeved base layer
A quality base layer is the foundation of every cyclist's wardrobe, regardless of whether you ride recreationally or train for a race. A properly chosen cycling jersey acts as your “second skin" - its main task is to effectively wick sweat away from the body, regulate body temperature and prevent chafing. In our offer you will find a wide selection of short base layers for hot days and thermal jerseys that will keep you warm during winter rides.
Why choose short sleeves?
Short sleeves are considered the most versatile choice for cyclists. They offer several advantages:
Maximum hygiene and jersey protection: The bottom layer absorbs sweat and body salts, extending the life of your more expensive cycling jerseys and outer layers of cycling clothing.
Temperature regulation: In summer, it helps the skin breathe, in colder weather it adds a thin insulating layer of air that maintains an optimal microclimate.
Chafing-free comfort: Flat seams and an anatomical cut prevent uncomfortable rubbing in the armpit area that can occur on long rides.
Types of undershirts
No shirt is the same as a shirt. Depending on the conditions you ride in, you can choose:
Summer mesh layers: Ideal for temperatures above 25°C. These shirts have an open, mesh-like structure. Their purpose is not to keep you warm but to create space between your skin and the jersey, which speeds up the evaporation of sweat and prevents the feeling of a "wet back".
Classic functional T-shirts (All-season): Made of fine microfibres that are pleasant to the touch. They are suitable for year-round wear. They cool in summer, and in the transitional period (spring/autumn) they act as light insulation under a long jersey or jacket.
Short merino t-shirts: For lovers of natural materials and long routes. Short merino wool is great for multi-day trips - it regulates temperature perfectly and, thanks to its antibacterial properties, does not smell even after several hours of performance.
Why should I wear an undershirt even in the hot summer?
It may sound paradoxical, but an extra layer can actually keep you cooler in the summer. An undershirt (especially a mesh one) acts as a transport bridge. It draws sweat away from your skin and into your jersey, where it can evaporate more quickly. This prevents a wet jersey from sticking uncomfortably to your body, which improves airflow and natural thermoregulation.
Merino or synthetic? Which material to choose?
Synthetic (polyester/polypropylene): The best choice for high-intensity training and racing. It dries extremely quickly and is very resistant to frequent washing.
Merino wool: Ideal for long rides and bikepacking. It's warm even when wet, and its natural antibacterial properties mean it won't smell after wearing it all day. It's softer and more comfortable on the skin.
