What is Seasucker?
SeaSucker carriers are manufactured by the company of the same name based in Florida. The name itself is a synonym for the sea octopus, or more precisely for its sucker-covered arms. And it is this system of vacuum suction cups that creates a surprisingly simple, intuitive and at the same time incredibly durable attachment directly to the car body. Here it is important to note how the manufacturer explains that the system uses vacuum (vacuum) and not suction cups. And that there is a fundamental difference, I myself was convinced after my own search on the web.

According to www.deltakits.com, Vacuum Cup Lesson 101, suction cups are round shaped objects made of rubber, silicone and similar soft substances that can be applied to non-porous surfaces. Water or air will create a vacuum in the suction cup and the so-called partial vacuum. Vacuum suction cups are typically also made of rubber, silicone or soft materials, but unlike suction cups, they include a lever, button, or pump, with the help of which the central part of the suction cup is separated from the surface by creating a vacuum that securely holds the outer edges of the suction cup on the applied surface. Vacuum suction cups are generally more flat, i.e. that they are more in contact with the surface of the material. The result is a safer and more durable "grip" with minimal pressure build-up, regardless of the size of the suction cups. So the way my lay brain sees it, vacuum suction cups will create a much more durable hold.

SeaSucker carriers bring many opportunities to cyclists. The installation is so simple and the individual parts compact and light that riding with these carriers is a real pleasure. The decision whether to leave the carrier in the car or to store it in the trunk in a matter of seconds is up to you. If, in spite of everything, you are skeptical of Seasucker carriers (believe me, I was too for the first few hours...), the fact that names from the pro peloton like Z. Štybar or M. Cavendish have entrusted their valuable carriers to them could convince you. who use this carrier. The limitation of these carriers is the fact that the carriers cannot be locked to the car. However, based on their compactness and the super-fast possibility of removing the carrier (actually one button on each suction cup, which immediately releases the attachment...) this should not have a fundamental negative effect on the functionality of the product.
It is also necessary to know that the vacuum in the suction cups must be "pumped up" from time to time. But again, it's not a real limitation, since the indicator on the pump will show you when it's necessary (in real life I refilled the vacuum every other day). In any case, the SeaSucker is a very unique and useful carrier. I use a carrier (Talon), which I always keep in my car and on hand when I need it. It is exceptional for its simplicity and timelessness, but also for its price, which is not low. However, if you deduct from the purchase price of the Seasucker carrier the price of the car accessories you need to install standard roof racks (including the racks themselves), the final price for this unconventional solution may not be so threatening. so the Seasucker should definitely be at the top of your list when choosing a bike rack.
