On an XC course, one of the key factors is how much weight you have to push uphill—and that’s where a hardtail has the advantage. The Race Pro Mid Modulus carbon frame features updated geometry with increased stiffness, internal cable routing, and a UDH-compatible dropout. The RockShox Recon Silver air fork offers 100 mm of travel and includes a lockout for efficient, bob-free climbing. Ghost Lector Base - 1,999 €

During a marathon race, after four hours in the saddle, vibrations can become more exhausting than the climbs themselves. The distinctive rear triangle of the Lector LC frame works like a leaf spring, absorbing some of the vibrations before they reach the saddle. The SuperFit® geometry, featuring a 68° head angle, keeps the bike stable on descents without sacrificing responsiveness. The RockShox Recon Gold RL Remote fork provides 100 mm of travel, or 120 mm on sizes L and XL, while Formula Cura 2 brakes paired with 180 mm and 160 mm rotors deliver reliable stopping power. BMC Fourstroke 01 Three - 3,199 €

On an XCO course, climbs and technical descents follow one another in rapid succession, leaving no time to fumble with suspension controls. The Fourstroke 01 Premium carbon frame features APS suspension with 100 mm of travel, while the RockShox SID SL Select 3P fork provides an additional 10 mm up front. The TwistLoc 3P remote lockout lets you adjust the suspension with a single movement from the handlebars. An all-day ride means hours of climbing and descents that require more capability than an XC bike can offer. The aluminium frame, featuring 120 mm of rear travel, is paired with a RockShox Psylo Silver RC air fork offering 130 mm of travel and a Deluxe Select shock. Magura MT5 four-piston brakes with 180 mm rotors front and rear provide consistent braking performance, even on long descents. Rock Machine Whizz FS i 90 AXS - 3,499 €

When it comes to downhill speed, a low frame design and a long wheelbase are essential. The aluminium frame with Floating Pivot kinematics delivers 140 mm of rear travel, with the option to adjust it, while a RockShox Lyrik Select+ fork featuring the Charger 3.1 damper and 150 mm of travel handles the front end. The Vivid Select shock and progressive suspension kinematics keep the rear wheel planted, even across fast, root-filled sections. An all-mountain bike needs to handle climbs under its own power and then tackle descents that truly put it to the test. The Zesty AM Ultimate carbon frame offers 150 mm of travel, matched by the Fox 36 Performance Float fork with a three-position lever. Wheel size, frame travel, and dropper post travel vary depending on frame size, ensuring that smaller riders don't have to compromise. Marin Alpine Trail XR GX AXS - 4,799 €

Some people take a pink pill for a headache, but all you need is a ride on a pink enduro bike. The aluminium frame has 160 mm of rear travel, paired with a RockShox ZEB Ultimate fork with 170 mm of travel and a Super Deluxe Coil spring shock to smooth out the bumps. The mullet setup, with a 29" front wheel and a 27.5" rear, highlights its downhill-focused character, while the down tube provides convenient storage space. The Gravity DH frame with the Think Link® system offers 205 mm of rear travel, while a RockShox BoXXer Select fork with 200 mm of travel handles the front. The Super Deluxe Coil Select R shock, measuring 250 x 75 mm, keeps the rear wheel planted over rocky sections.
