DESIGNED FOR GRAVEL "FLARED" HANDLEBARS
The rubber lever covers have a rounded outer edge that provides ample support for the palm without hard edges that could create unwanted pressure points and thus discomfort when holding the handlebars.
So, whether you ride with a 45-degree or 0-degree flare on your handlebars, you'll appreciate the offset ergonomics of the levers.
TEXTURED LEVER COVERS FOR A SECURE GRIP
Thanks to the raised anti-slip patterns and tacky rubber on the rubber covers and shift levers, your hand won't slip, even with wet hands.
HIGH-PIVOT BRAKE LEVER
To achieve greater leverage and reduce lever reach, we've moved the brake lever's pivot point to a higher position on the shifter body. microSHIFT has also revamped the overall design so the lever pulls slightly more cable than a standard road lever, ultimately providing a bit more braking power when you need it most.
LOWER GEARS THAN A COMPACT DOUBLE CRANKSET
Climbing on a gravel bike is quite strenuous and unavoidable. However, you can make it easier with the right gear choice. From a current perspective, compact double cranksets are a bit old-school. Modern gravel groupsets are already pushing for lower gears that help maintain cadence even on steep roads, and the Sword groupset is firmly integrated into these new-school trends.
The Sword 2x has a gear ratio that is 24% lower than a compact road double crankset. The Sword 1x with a 40-tooth chainring is 17% lower. This extra gear range will help you reach your destination in one piece, whether you're heading out for a ride or tackling a Tour de France stage.
QUIET CLUTCH WITH INSTANT ENGAGEMENT
microSHIFT has re-engineered our ratchet clutch from the ground up with two goals: instant engagement and quiet operation. The new Sword rear derailleur delivers both. When it's time to remove the rear wheel, simply turn the integrated clutch switch on the derailleur cage, and the clutch disengages. Of course, it won't help you ride faster, but it's easy to use and disappears when you don't need it.
