Zipp Super-9 Carbon 28" rear disc, disc brake, clincher, 12x142 mm, XDR
Smoother is faster with the Zipp Super-9 Tubeless Disc Wheel for disc brakes. Among the lightest discs available, the Super-9 is an excellent addition to your modern triathlon or time trial race machine. Its refined shape expands parallel from the hub until it joins the direct mount, hookless bead seat for tire mounting. Thanks to its carbon fiber layup and Zipp’s Total System Efficiency (TSE) design, the Super-9 is built for a new era of wider tires and lower tire pressures in TT and triathlon. Zipp founded its TSE wheel design approach on a simple premise: efficiency equals speed, whether the asphalt is perfect or not. The combination of Zipp’s wheel layup with a wider rim profile and optimized tire bed helps you overcome the four barriers to speed: wind resistance, gravity, rolling resistance, and vibration losses. Building on TSE, Zipp re-engineered the Super-9 from the rim bed to the hub’s ceramic bearings. The result is less wasted effort. For triathletes, this means more energy for the run. The Super-9 pairs perfectly with Zipp’s current front tubeless wheels. The “old way” was to always inflate tires to maximum for a time trial or triathlon. You felt every bump as you literally bounced down the road. Using Zipp’s dual innovations, the hookless rim bead and TSE, Super-9 riders realize that a disc doesn’t have to feel stiff to be fast. The Super-9 is fastest with 28mm-wide tubeless tires inflated to lower pressures than traditionally used. So, in addition to gaining speed, you’ll experience better handling and cornering on the course with a wheel that is significantly stiffer and more durable than its predecessor. Optimal tire pressure is key to maximizing speed on the bike. To ensure you’re properly inflated, the Super-9 comes with the TyreWiz 2.0 tire pressure monitoring device, perfectly balanced and invisibly integrated, so you’ll always know if you’re in your desired PSI/bar range. Inflation is a breeze with the redesigned pump access to the valve, without the use of stickers. The Super-9 disc features the powerful ZR1 hub with ceramic bearings and 66 points of engagement.
