Black Crows Orb Freebird skis, 91, yellow
Black Crows Orb Freebird skis
The Orb Freebird is not a ski designed for the deepest powder or for everyday resort riding. It was designed for ski tourers who want reliable touring skis for the high mountains, where a single tour alternates between hard firn, technical rocks, wind-blown slopes, and fresh snow. If you expect precision, excellent grip, and confidence on the descent without unnecessary extra grams from your skis. The fourth generation of the Orb Freebird model has undergone a complete modernization and retains everything that makes it one of Black Crows' most popular touring skis. The new sidecut, progressive flex, and lower weight further emphasize its character - a precise mountain ski designed primarily for a reliable descent.
The 91 mm width underfoot offers an ideal balance between efficient ascent and confidence on the descent. Better grip on hard snow, higher stability at higher speeds, and a new skin attachment system make the Orb Freebird a reliable partner for long ski tours and technical alpine ascents. A narrower sidecut at the tip and tail, along with new geometry, improves edge hold without the ski losing its natural maneuverability or float in fresh snow.

The 91 mm width underfoot is an ideal compromise between efficient climbing, precision on hard snow, and sufficient float in fresh snow.
A slightly straighter sidecut brings higher stability on the edge and a calmer performance at higher speeds.
Progressive flex and a firm core ensure precision, while a softer tip and tail increase comfort and facilitate control in variable conditions.
The front rocker makes it easier to guide the skis in spring firn, fresh snow, and broken terrain.
Carbon and fiberglass increase torsional stiffness and ensure precise turn guidance
Ash wood reinforcement under the binding increases the binding's grip strength and the long-term durability of the skis
Classic camber underfoot ensures reliable edge contact with snow even on hardpack
The 18 m radius provides a natural balance between high-speed stability and agility in technical terrain. The paulownia core significantly reduces weight without negatively impacting riding characteristics
Low weight allows for efficient handling of long ascents and multi-day mountain crossings
The new climbing skin attachment system simplifies handling and saves time during ascents
Balanced construction maintains a natural riding feel without compromising downhill performance
