Everything at hand

The main compartment features a waterproof two-way zipper that opens wide, allowing you to see everything immediately and clearly. The interior is brightly lit for better orientation in low light. The front of the backpack has a special pocket for avalanche gear, so you'll have your shovel and probe readily accessible if needed. Inside the main compartment, there's a clip for a hydration reservoir. There's a small front pocket for a map, compass, and other navigation equipment. This pocket also includes a plastic carabiner for keys.

This avalanche backpack has no unnecessary straps or elastic bands, only functional elements. ORTOVOX designers have ensured a very clean look even when carrying ice axes, a helmet, skis, or a snowboard. Although the backpack feels soft to the touch, the CORDURA® fabric used is extremely tear-resistant and very lightweight. The avalanche backpack with the LiTRIC system consists of two parts. The backpack bag is attached to the BASE unit (back system) with the LiTRIC safety system. This guarantees versatile use of the backpacks from resort freeriding to week-long Haute Route tours. Simply swap them using the circumferential zipper and side straps.

1 LiTRIC - 2 back systems TOUR BASES and FREERIDE BASES (always in 2 back lengths). Four different bags can be attached with a zipper to each system. Use the backpack for multi-day tours, e.g., TOUR 40, and for freeriding, use the Freerider 18 backpack. You can attach a backpack with the FREERIDE system to the TOUR back system and vice versa, provided its length is compatible (e.g., the TOUR 28 S ZIP bag can only be attached to a shortened back system "S", such as from the AVABAG LITRIC FREERIDE 16 S backpack).

LiTRIC combines the advantages of electronic and mechanical systems

Two strong outdoor brands, Germany's Ortovox and Canada's Arc'teryx, have joined forces to create a new safety system for avalanche backpacks. The airbag is inflated with ambient air using a fan powered by a supercapacitor. LiTRIC combines the advantages of both electronic and mechanical systems. 100% Made in Bavaria.



Litric is one of the lightest systems. Its total weight is 1080 g, making it a leader in the electronic systems category and 3rd place overall regardless of technology. The weight is comparable to a thermos of tea.

No restrictions for flying

Litric can be transported by air without paperwork, unlike systems that require compressed air cartridges. Supercapacitors are passive components with energy storage capacity. According to IATA regulations, passengers can carry up to 15 such items for personal use, each with an energy limit of 100 Wh. The Li-ion battery in LiTRIC has a capacity of 7.4 Wh.

Intuitive activation and locking

The trigger, or activation handle, can be activated very quickly. Simply rotate it 180°, switching between the activation and locked positions. This can be done easily with one hand, preventing accidental activation, for example, while riding a ski lift. Furthermore, it can be adjusted to 3 different heights on the strap.

Into the deepest powder

You don't need to worry; it will function even in extremely cold temperatures. Activation is possible down to -30 °C. This allows you to enjoy the truly deepest powder.

Easy deflation, packing, and a lock against accidental opening

After activation, deflation and packing are easy, like stuffing a sleeping bag into its sack. No folding or complicated procedures according to instructions are needed. A lock on the airbag compartment (mechanical latch) ensures that this pocket does not open accidentally, for example, during a fall. It serves as a secondary safety measure after the trigger. The 150 L airbag itself uses double-layer material technology, which results in reduced weight and increased tear resistance. A release pin, included with the backpack, is used to deflate the inflated airbag and unlock the system for quick deflation and repacking.

Easier buckle and leg strap fastening

The leg strap is bright orange for quick and clear confirmation of correct fastening before descending. The purpose of the strap is to prevent the backpack from being ripped off the body in an avalanche. Thanks to the design of the leg strap, the hip belt buckle can be easily clipped, as is common with non-avalanche backpacks. The clip-on hip belt buckle significantly increases user comfort, especially for quick unbuckling before getting on a ski lift.

A supercapacitor is a capacitor with very high electrical capacity

Unlike a battery, which uses electrochemical reactions, a capacitor stores energy through static charge. A supercapacitor is ideal when a large amount of electrical energy needs to be discharged quickly. This is exactly what the avalanche backpack's fan needs to fill the airbag with ambient air. In the LiTRIC, the power source is an integrated Li-Ion battery, similar to those in mobile phones. Charging is very simple via the USB-C cable included in the package. Charging takes 2-3 hours. The airbag can be activated twice on a single charge, but after the first activation, you need to wait about 25 minutes for the supercapacitor to regenerate, ensuring the second inflation proceeds without issues. On the side of the backpack, near the system, there is a mesh window showing a traffic light indicator for the system's charge status (Green/Orange/Red).

Comfortable back system for all-day wear

The back system is made of 3D molded memory foam. The back is softer to better follow body movements and avoid pressure points. Shoulder straps and the hip belt are sewn directly onto the back system, ensuring even weight distribution of the fully packed backpack. The sternum strap stabilizes the shoulder straps, which is especially appreciated during descents on skis.

Variant with a shorter back "short"

This "S" variant of the backpack is designed for individuals with a back length of 36 to 44 cm. However, the backpack is also available in a variant for those with a back length between 42 and 50 cm. Back length is measured from the 7th cervical vertebra to the upper part of the pelvis. The backpack is not only adjusted in back length but also features changes in the shape of the shoulder straps and the fit of the hip belt. This ensures the backpack fits perfectly and stays securely on your back.
