Giro Tenaya Spherical women's helmet, matte black
It doesn't matter if you get up early for a morning ride on the Manchester with the family or head out to your favorite ski touring route – the Tor Spherical helmet is the perfect combination of protection, ventilation control, and style. For the highest level of protection, the helmet is equipped with Spherical technology powered by MIPS. It works on the principle of a ball joint – the helmet shell consists of two hemispheres that move relative to each other like a ball joint. In the event of an impact, the outer shell can rotate around the inner shell, reducing the forces that would otherwise act directly on the head and brain. It's like suspension inside the helmet. Ventilation can be adjusted thanks to the adjustable Thermostat Control ventilation. You can easily adjust the size using the In Form 2 fitting system and a comfortable magnetic buckle under the chin.

MIPS IS MOVEMENT
All Giro helmets are designed to absorb as much energy as possible in the event of an impact and comply with the applicable European standard: EN 1077. The goal of the new MIPS technology is to eliminate rotational forces that act on the head in the event of a fall and subsequent impact on the slope. In the event of an impact at any angle, the MIPS system allows the helmet's EPS shell to rotate independently around the head. Although this movement is only a matter of a few millimeters, we believe that MIPS technology significantly reduces the amount of rotational force that could otherwise be transmitted to the brain.
WHAT IS MIPS (Multidirectional Impact Protection System) AND HOW DOES IT WORK?
MIPS is a low-friction layer between the EPS shell (helmet body) and the inner padding. In the event of an angled impact, the helmet's EPS shell rotates a few millimeters over the MIPS layer, thus protecting the head and brain from sudden rotational jerking.
