Giro Owen Spherical helmet, matt black
If you feel just as comfortable off-piste in the open terrain as you do on the slopes, then the Owen model was created for you. The minimalist shape is combined with technological features such as Spherical Technology Powered by Mips. This works on the principle of a hinge – the helmet shell consists of two hemispheres that move relative to each other like a hinge. In the event of an impact, the outer shell can rotate around the inner shell, thereby reducing the forces that would otherwise act directly on the head and brain. It's like suspension inside the helmet. The In Form2 adjustment system allows you to adjust the helmet's height in addition to tightening it with a dial. For a completely clean design, we have moved the Thermostat Stealth ventilation control inside the helmet. Everything is secured under the chin with a Fidlock magnetic buckle.

MIPS IS MOVEMENT
PROGRESS IN SKI HELMET DEVELOPMENT
All Giro helmets are designed to absorb as much energy as possible in the event of an impact and comply with the applicable European standard: EN 1077. The goal of the new MIPS technology is to eliminate rotational forces that act on the head in the event of a fall and subsequent impact on the slope. In the event of an impact at any angle, the MIPS system allows the EPS shell of the helmet to rotate independently around the head. Although this movement is only a matter of a few millimeters, we believe that MIPS technology significantly reduces the amount of rotational force that could otherwise be transmitted to the brain.
WHAT IS MIPS (Multidirectional Impact Protection System) and how does it work?
MIPS is a low-friction layer between the EPS shell (helmet body) and the inner padding. In the event of an angled impact, the EPS shell of the helmet rotates a few millimeters over the MIPS layer, thus protecting the head and brain from sudden rotational jerking.
