Fritschi Xenic plus 12 ski touring binding, black/gold
In the 2019/20 season, Fritschi introduced the new Xenic 10 model in the lightweight binding category, ideal for skis up to 105 mm underfoot. The Xenic Plus 12 model is a novelty for the 2025/26 season and differs from the classic Xenic in higher DIN values and the second included heel riser. The Xenic Plus 12 weighs only 295 g (590 g/pair) without brakes and will be appreciated especially by ski tourers who hike more, care about weight, but do not want to compromise on safety and ease of use.
Among other things, the Xenic binding model is the result of modernizing existing Fritschi technologies and offers users various innovations in safety, user comfort, and ride control.
Toe and Pin Bindings from Fritschi
The toe piece of the Fritschi Xenic Plus binding is the same as on the Xenic binding. It is the first binding whose pins open and close laterally, i.e., sideways, and do not rotate around a fixed point. This mechanism offers two basic advantages:
- Easy entry into the binding
- Much greater resistance against unintentional release from impacts from below, which can occur at higher speeds or when landing on skis
- Vertical release also in walk mode – in case of avalanche burial, loss of balance during ascent, or falling during short descents on skins.
- Made of carbon, supplemented with proven modern polymers – they are lighter than metal parts and at the same time have higher strength and durability.
- The binding is reinforced with metal elements at the toe and heel for even greater durability
You can also attach ski crampons to the toe piece, which are available in three widths: 85 mm, 95 mm, and 105 mm. The toe piece is also equipped with a place for attaching a leash when used without brakes.
Rotary Heel with Adjustable Release Force
The heel of the Fritschi Xenic Plus 12 binding combines low weight with safety features that were previously exclusive to heavier ski touring bindings. The heel platform is wide and offers optimal power transfer to the ski, thus achieving excellent downhill performance. The lateral release force can be set to DIN values from 6 to 12 using the screw on the back of the binding. The accuracy of the adjustable vertical release force is ensured by independently rotating pins (an advantage over U-shaped pins) from DIN 6 to 12.
- Switching between hiking mode and skiing is easy and comfortable thanks to the rotary heel. You can rotate the heel of the Fritschi Xenic Plus 12 binding more easily by 180° using the flipped heel riser, which gives you more leverage.
- The heel can deflect up to 13 mm before releasing to prevent unintentional release from impacts and vibrations during skiing. Also, when the ski flexes, where the distance between the toe and heel shortens, the heel can move and prevent unintentional release at critical moments, while also preventing damage to the binding.
- Two heel risers – the first lifts the heel at an angle of 7 degrees and the second at an angle of 11 degrees – great variability for hiking on slopes with different inclines and snow types.
Excellent Skiing Thanks to the Active Heel
The active sliding heel adapts to the ski boot up to 10 mm when the ski flexes during skiing, allowing for smooth flexing of the ski along its entire length, which is a necessary feature of the binding for perfect skiing. A binding without an active heel will cause the ski to bend, stiffen the center, and the ski will only flex in front of and behind the binding, which significantly degrades its riding characteristics. Fritschi has eliminated this problem, making the Xenic Plus 12 binding also ideal for excellent skiing enjoyment.
Lightweight and Above All Safe Ski Touring Binding
The Fritschi Xenic Plus 12 ski touring binding is the best choice for those who want a lightweight and at the same time safe binding for descents without the need to lock the toe piece. The Xenic Plus 12 binding is designed more for hiking, but it can easily handle descents. You can expect thousands of meters climbed with it and great skiing experiences.
Easy Entry Even on Steep Slopes
