Rab Ascendor Summit Hoody

The new Rab Ascendor series of technical mid-layers features an ingenious combination of materials for the best balance of thermal insulation and breathability during all mountain activities and beyond.

The Ascendor Summit Hoody is the ultimate variant in this series. Since 2020, Rab has set out to progressively develop sustainability and minimize our footprint as much as possible. However, this is not a superficial "marketing" plan; Rab carefully evaluates recycling methods to ensure it all makes sense. Therefore, the new Rab mid-layers also use recycled materials.

Pertex® Quantum Air + Thermic™ G

Lightweight and wind-resistant Pertex® Quantum Air is placed on the chest and abdomen, upper sleeves to the elbows, and the lower part of the hood (ear coverage). DWR treatment provides light water resistance. Pertex is lined with an ultra-warm, absorbent, and highly brushed fleece, which, along with the outer material, is wonderfully breathable. The waistband, sides, lower torso, lower sleeves, hood, forearms, and underarms feature lightweight and breathable Thermic ™ G fleece. This combination excellently wicks away body moisture, making it ideal for high-aerobic activities and can be used as an outer or mid-layer.

Features

The hoody has a snug-fitting hood with an elasticated edge, designed to be worn under a helmet if necessary. The jacket's hem is equipped with elastic binding. Similarly, the sleeves have elasticated cuffs with thumb loops. The jacket hem is "dropped," meaning it lowers from the torso towards the seat, protecting the rear. The 3/4 central YKK zipper allows for effective ventilation. The jacket has a single chest pocket with a YKK zipper.

Use

The Rab Ascendor Summit Hoody provides warmth, wind protection, and partial water resistance (DWR treatment). We would most recommend it for demanding winter ascents, alpinism, and general mountaineering activities. It will also be useful on ski touring and backcountry expeditions. However, it also serves well for less ambitious individuals – running, snowshoeing, winter hiking.

Thanks to the ingenious combination of materials, it can be used as an outer layer or as a classic insulating mid-layer in a layering system.
