Mountain Equipment Kryos jacket, atlantic/admiral
The development team of the Mountain Equipment brand was inspired by the experiences of the best alpinists in the world and thus created an insulating down jacket that is designed for truly extreme challenges in the highest mountains. A significant distinguishing element from all other down jackets is the additional external GORE-TEX WINDSTOPPER Ⓡ membrane that covers the individual chambers. It protects the feathers from moisture and creates another insulating layer. An unrivaled element of the KRYOS MEN'S JACKET is its hood, which offers unprecedented protection and warmth.
- GORE-TEX WINDSTOPPER Ⓡ 10 D protects against the weather and increases the insulation properties of the jacket.
- The jacket has a FIRESTORM™ construction, where the outer membrane fabric covers all the chambers, creating an additional thermal insulation layer and protecting against the weather.
- Hybrid chamber construction – a combination of traditional stitched and 3D chambers with warm seams.
- 234 g (large L) of goose feathers in a ratio of 90/10 and a filling of 800 cuin.
- Super Alpine HC Hood with internal EXL® stretch seams. It is fully adjustable and helmet compatible.
- High and ergonomic collar.
- Two-way YKK ® zipper lined with an internal feather lining for minimal heat loss and snap fastener at the bottom - When securing, you unzip the lower part of the jacket and secure it with a snap fastener under the fastener. That way, the jacket won't get in the way when working with the rope.
- Two insulated hand pockets, two breast pockets and two large inner pockets.
- Surface material GORE-TEX WINDSTOPPER Ⓡ 10 D on the inside of the hood, the ends of the sleeves and the bottom hem of the jacket.
- Elastic hems at the ends of the sleeves.
- Drawstring waist. Separate cord for pulling the front and back parts, so that there is no danger of getting caught in the carabiner when you attach it to the material eye of the seat harness.
Several years of testing and laboratory tests
KRYOS MEN'S JACKET is the result of two years of prototypes and development. Paul Ramsden wore them on the China 2018 expedition and the final version of the jacket was seen in Pakistan during the autumn expedition with some of the world's best alpinists - Tom Livingstone, Uisdean Hawthorne and Chantel Astorg.
The reason why these alpinists wanted this jacket is its exceptional thermal insulation, high resistance to snow, water and wind and at the same time really low weight. There is no comparable product on the market. The GORE-TEX WINDSTOPPERⓇ membrane is completely windproof, highly water resistant, and the Firestorm™ construction covers all exposed weak points of the jacket, increasing its resistance, protection against the elements and also thermal insulation. The chamber layout has been improved and the hood is completely new and much better than any other in our range. We measured in the laboratory that the KRYOS MEN'S JACKET is 10% warmer than the modern mountaineering and expedition down jacket VEGA, which has a slightly higher weight. KRYOS thus becomes the new standard of the best mountaineering down jacket for extreme conditions.
First class expedition down jacket
