Peak Design Outdoor Backpack

A compact and lightweight backpack, ideal for day trips or commutes. The Outdoor Backpack 18L offers all the comfort and versatility of larger Peak Design backpacks, but in a streamlined form and design suitable for both the outdoors and the city. It is designed to work seamlessly with a wide range of Peak Design organizers*, offering perfect organization and protection for your gear – including your camera.



Shoulder straps in a running vest style distribute weight effectively across your torso, providing ideal storage space with two stretchy mesh pockets. Perfect for quick access to items like your phone or for carrying a soft flask. Additionally, both straps feature attachment points for the Capture Camera Clip*.

This backpack is highly abrasion-resistant and functionally waterproof thanks to its Terra Shell™ 210D ripstop nylon, which is 100% recycled, Bluesign certified, PFAS-free treated, and features an internal PU coating. An optional Rain Fly* provides full waterproof protection.

The large back access panel makes packing easier and offers an ideal format for carrying photo and video equipment in combination with Peak Design Camera Cubes*, which can be securely attached inside the backpack. Three large external Flex Pockets™ provide easy access to larger items you want to keep handy (water bottles, trekking poles, jackets, tripods), while maintaining a clean look and avoiding a disorganized appearance. External Cord Hook™ straps and elastic Gear Loops offer endless possibilities for attaching items to the outside of the backpack, while the ubiquitous Cord Rails™ provide attachment points on all sides of the backpack. You can even attach Peak Design Ultralight Packing Cubes* for modular external storage. The backpack is Fair Trade certified and carbon neutral. It accommodates 1 Smedium-sized Camera Cube (or Small).

ACCESS

The large back panel is accessible via a robust yet lightweight 8mm waterproof UltraZip™.



CARRY SYSTEM

Increased comfort thanks to low-profile padded shoulder straps in a running vest style, which better distribute weight and provide pockets for quick access to small items.

Shoulder straps include mesh pockets with hidden attachment points for the Capture Clip (clip sold separately).

Two quickly adjustable sternum straps for more active and ergonomic carrying (can be used both, one, or none).

Optional quickly attachable padded hip belt (with storage and attachment point for Capture Clip) sold separately.

Padded back panel with a central channel for better airflow.

Breathable, quick-drying perforated foam padding on back panels and shoulder straps.

Top grab handle for easy carrying.



INTERNAL STORAGE

Hydration sleeve (with hydration reservoir holder) can also be used as a laptop sleeve for up to a 16” Macbook Pro.

EXTERNAL STORAGE

2 waterproof pockets secured with #5 UltraZips™. Suitable for small items (fits X-small or XX-small Ultralight Packing Cube).

External Cord Hook™ Carry Cords (2x) for quick attachment of gear to the outside of the backpack.

Elastic adjustable Cord Hook™ Gear Loops (2x) offer further quick and easy external attachment options.

External straps and Gear Loops are made from ultra-strong, abrasion-resistant UHMWPE fiber.

Concealed Cord Rails™ allow for attachment of additional gear anywhere on the outside of the backpack, ideally with Cord Hook Carry Cords or Gear Loops. You can also use any other strap.

Use the straps and Gear Loops to attach Ultralight Packing Cubes (sold separately) for modular external storage.

Use the straps and Cord Rails™ to cinch down the sides of the backpack for better load distribution.

WEATHER PROTECTION

Primary outer material is ultra-lightweight Terra Shell™ 210D ripstop made from 100% recycled nylon.

Secondary outer material (front and bottom) is Terra Shell ™ 210D ripstop with TPU lamination (not from recycled materials).

PFAS-free water-repellent treatment and internal PU coating.

The backpack is functionally waterproof and has an optional Rain Fly (sold separately) for complete waterproofing.

Clean locally with warm water and mild detergent, hand wash only.

Fair Trade certified and 100% climate-neutral manufacturing.
