Wolf Tooth PowerTrac Elliptical™ (PTE) chainrings have a less ovalized ring (10%) with less aggressive timing (112°) than competing versions. Any change in pedal stroke is imperceptible to most riders, yet still provides the power and traction benefits of elliptical chainrings. It's like having two chainrings in one! With PowerTrac elliptical chainrings, the larger diameter portion engages the chain at the optimal point of the downstroke or “Power Zone” – between 1-5 and 7-11 on a clock face – leveraging the body’s natural biomechanical strengths: For example, in this section, a 34t PTE chainring is equivalent to a 36t round chainring. Similarly, in the “Recovery Zone” (11-1 and 5-7), the smaller portion of the PTE chainring engages, maximizing efficiency in the weakest part of the pedal stroke, and here a 34t PTE chainring is equivalent to a 32t round chainring.
Furthermore, the above provides a smoother and more efficient pedal rotation, which means better traction. More stable torque on the rear wheel means less slipping in the “Power Zone”, while pedaling is easier during the “Recovery Zone”, so you maintain momentum.
Compatible for use with 110 BCD 5-arm cranksets.
On cranksets that have 4 visible bolts and 1 hidden bolt behind the crank arm, like SRAM, the chainring will rotate 180 degrees from normal.
The perfect choice for cyclocross, gravel, or road bikes.
The tooth profiling is designed for 9, 10, 11 speed and 12 speed Sram Eagle chains as well as Sram FlatTop 12 speed chains.
