When we started designing the XR Spherical helmet, we wanted it to do everything - from cyclocross, to long gravel routes, to local KOMs during a fast ride with friends. With the Falcon XR MIPS, we took the same approach. Similar design and features like the Fidlock buckle and Ionic+ anti-bacterial padding have been incorporated into a more economical version. The Falcon XR is equipped with MIPS technology integrated into the retention system.

MIPS IS MOVEMENT
All Bell helmets are designed to absorb as much energy as possible in the event of an impact, and comply with the applicable European standard: EN 1078. The goal of the new MIPS technology is to eliminate rotational forces that act on the head in the event of a fall. In the event of an impact at any angle, the MIPS system allows the helmet's EPS shell to rotate independently around the rider's head. Although this movement is only a matter of a few millimeters, we believe that MIPS technology significantly reduces the amount of rotational force that could otherwise be transferred to the brain.
WHAT IS MIPS (Multidirectional Impact Protection System) AND HOW DOES IT WORK?
MIPS is a low-friction layer between the EPS shell (the helmet body) and the internal padding. In the event of an angled impact (e.g., when you hit your head on a branch), the helmet's EPS shell rotates a few millimeters over the MIPS layer, thus protecting the head and brain from sudden rotational jerking.
