SK Hello, it's correct
While the right shifter for the rear derailleur has strict indexing (one click per gear), Shimano purposefully designed the left shifter for your front gears as a multi-click "ratchet" or friction shifter. When change gears on the cassette, the chain moves at sharp angles, so if you are in a high gear in the back, the chain might start scraping against the metal cage of your front derailleur, making a rubbing noise. So with this micro-adjusting you can always adjust the position of a front derailleur a bit more based on an actual selected gear
