SILCA Nastro Piloti handlebar tape, 1.85 mm, white
By using laminate of SILCAthane, SILCAlon, and 3M Visco-elastic adhesive instead of a single foam extrusion, the tape can be optimized for a range of desired properties. The resulting tape is softer and more comfortable, has higher grip wet or dry, better vibration isolation, and a 3-5x longer lifespan than other tape materials.
Taping is as important as the tape itself, which is why Silca developed the "butterfly" with a fully adhesive backing – it covers the rear part better, and is finished with an aluminum end plug.
The technologies are inspired by running shoes, F1 tires, and Silca's own damping research.
